Artisan Fair Trade Hedgehog House
Provide hedgehogs with a safe, secure place to shelter while supporting artisan communities in rural Bangladesh.
Handcrafted by skilled Fair Trade artisans, the Artisan Hedgehog House combines thoughtful wildlife-friendly design with traditional craftsmanship.
Built around a strong, corrosion-resistant steel frame, the house features a waterproof roof with a water-based sealant applied to the hessian lining for excellent weather protection. An integrated security tunnel helps protect visiting hedgehogs from predators such as foxes, allowing them to retreat safely into the nesting chamber.
The exterior is expertly handwoven using locally sourced natural seagrass, while the entrance is finished with colourful recycled sari fabric. Each artisan selects their own sari pattern, making every Hedgehog House completely unique. As every house is handmade from natural materials, slight variations in colour and appearance are part of its individual character.

Positioning Your Hedgehog House
For the best chance of attracting hedgehogs, place the house in a quiet, sheltered area of the garden, away from prevailing winds and close to natural vegetation or dense planting. Camouflage the house by piling leaves, twigs or foliage around it to provide additional insulation and protection.
For added stability in exposed locations, the house can be secured using two to four tent pegs hooked over the metal frame and pushed into the ground.
Care and Maintenance
Inspect the Hedgehog House once a year during the off-season, ensuring it is unoccupied before carrying out any maintenance. Check for damage, loose components and remove any debris to keep the house in good condition.
Important Information
This Hedgehog House is designed for healthy wild hedgehogs and is not suitable for sick, injured or rescued hedgehogs that require regular monitoring.
If you feed hedgehogs in your garden, always provide a shallow bowl of fresh water alongside any food.
