Create a safe haven for garden birds with the Nuttery squirrel proof feeders, their clever cages allow your garden birds in but keep those unwanted guests out! Predator proof they prevent adult Squirrels*, Jackdaws, Magpies, Pigeons and other large birds from getting to the treats.

This Chinese Lantern Aubergine Nut Feeder provides a great way to feed your small garden bird’s whilst keeping out unwanted adult squirrels and other larger garden birds thanks to the squirrel proof cage.

Made from durable metal, this Chinese Lantern feeder comes with a screw on lid making filling and cleaning easy, and it’s important to clean this feeder regularly to keep it safe for your garden birds to use. This bird feeder also features an integrated seed tray to catch any fallen seed and reduce waste.

Once filled with peanuts this feeder can be hung up from a tree branch, hook or feeding station using the feeders attached metal hook.

This squirrel proof feeder doubles as pigeon proof and crow proof, as well as keeping other larger birds at bay.

*A Note On Juvenile Squirrels

The Nuttery feeders can only protect against adult grey squirrels and large adult birds such as magpies, crows rooks etc, which ultimately do the most damage.  Some birds, such as a woodpecker, wont fit through the bars but could manage to get their beaks inside and access the food.

There is always a chance than an adolescent young squirrel could squeeze into the bars and access the feeder.  The young squirrels look very similar to adults but are actually far fluffier making them much more flexible!  Squirrels are normally born in March, April, July and August so there may well be a risk around these months. This is short term issue and will be the problem of any feeder that has researched the necessary bar spacing required.  You may also find that adolescent jackdaws, crows and pigeons may find their way in.  The bars on these feeders cannot be made smaller to protect from adolescent or red squirrels as this would pose a risk to the birds.

If squirrels do manage to get into the feeders to prevent damage to the plastic tubes a a dash of chilli flakes mixed in with the nuts or seeds will have no effect on the birds at all but will deter the squirrels.
