Create a safe haven for garden birds with the Nuttery squirrel proof feeders, their clever cages allow your garden birds in but keep those unwanted guests out! Predator proof they prevent adult Squirrels*, Jackdaws, Magpies, Pigeons and other large birds from getting to the treats!
The Nuttery Original Compact Ocean Green Squirrel Proof Seed Feeder has a clever design with a squirrel proof metal cage surrounding the feeder, allowing small garden birds to feed in peace whilst greedy squirrels and larger wild birds such as pigeons and crows are kept out. The strong plastic tube encases the seed and will keep it more protected from the elements.
Finished in a lovely ocean green colour, this starling proof feeder can hold up to 450g of seeds to attract an array of small birds including: finches, blue tits and great tits to your garden.
This wild bird seed feeder has been built to last from high quality metal, and can be easily filled by lifting the feeders lid, or cleaned by simply dismantling this Nuttery feeder - which is easy to do thanks to the feeders wide base - and reassembling again once all clean and safe to use again.
*A Note On Juvenile Squirrels
The Nuttery feeders can only protect against adult grey squirrels and large adult birds such as magpies, crows rooks etc, which ultimately do the most damage. Some birds, such as a woodpecker, wont fit through the bars but could manage to get their beaks inside and access the food.
There is always a chance than an adolescent young squirrel could squeeze into the bars and access the feeder. The young squirrels look very similar to adults but are actually far fluffier making them much more flexible! Squirrels are normally born in March, April, July and August so there may well be a risk around these months. This is short term issue and will be the problem of any feeder that has researched the necessary bar spacing required. You may also find that adolescent jackdaws, crows and pigeons may find their way in. The bars on these feeders cannot be made smaller to protect from adolescent or red squirrels as this would pose a risk to the birds.
If squirrels do manage to get into the feeders to prevent damage to the plastic tubes a a dash of chilli flakes mixed in with the nuts or seeds will have no effect on the birds at all but will deter the squirrels.
This feeder can be fully dismantled for a thorough clean by simply unscrewing the base, taking out the inner tube and then easily removing the perches to ensure every part of this bird seed feeder is well cleaned to keep it hygienic and safe for garden birds to feed from.
