About Dried Calci Worms
Dried Calci Worms contain 20 to 40 times more calcium than Dried Mealworms which contributes to stronger bones and eggs. This makes them an excellent alternative.
What are Calci Worms?
Calci Worms (also known as Calcium Worms) are the larvae of the Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens). They are high in protein, energy giving fat, amino acids and incredibly high in calcium.
These dried insects have a positive Calcium to Phosphorous ratio which research has proven promotes increased animal health and contributes to stronger bones and eggs for wild birds. These properties also make them an excellent addition to the diet of growing vertebrates such as hedgehogs and chickens.
How to Feed
Dried Calci Worms are very easy to feed to the wildlife in your garden. We recommend feeding from a special Mealworm Feeder, from a bird table or in a ground feeder.
If you regularly feed seed mixes or other bird foods, you could try adding the calci worms to those feeders to make a DIY seed mix. Or if you're birds are in need of a tasty treat, try soaking the calci worms in water overnight to plump them up before putting them out for your birds (you will need to use a special mealworm feeder, or bird table for this method).
To attract new birds to your garden, we recommend placing a new feeder with the calci worms in near where you’ve seen the birds parch. This gets them used to taking insects from you.
Please ensure that a good source of water is provided if feeding Calci Worms to ensure that your birds are kept hydrated and healthy.
