Premium Squirrel Proof Guardian Seed feeder

The Garden Wildlife Direct premium metal seed feeder with Guardian cage is a great value hard wearing metal feeder finished in a beautiful dark green. The strong metal guardian gives protection from Adult Squirrels and Larger birds(*) allowing smaller birds to access the feeding tube inside. 

Inside the guardian cage is a 40cm metal feeder with a durable plastic feeding tube, strong metal perches and 6 feeding ports. The plastic tube will help to prevent seed from becoming water logged in the rain.

The lid flips off easily for filling with any seed mix, and the base can be removed for thorough cleaning.

The included guardian base tray can be inverted and can be used as a feeder tray to catch any dropped seed, the tray includes drainage holes to prevent the seed in the tray becoming water-logged (see images). The tray can be used in the standard position to allow water to quickly drain away.

The strong metal hook can be used to hang the feeder from a tree branch, hook or feeding station.

Cleaning this feeder is a simple process – unscrew the wingnut to remove the base tray, the perches then unscrew to remove the base. Mix some mild detergent in water to clean the feeder, we recommend using a cleaning brush and some bird safe disinfectant. A note on squirrel protection although this feeder is squirrel and large bird proof we cannot guarantee that the most determined squirrels or large birds won’t get inside of the feeder, particularly juvenile squirrels and birds which are far more agile than the adults.  Birds with particularly long beaks may also be able to access the feeder inside of the guardian. The bars on these feeders cannot be made smaller to protect from adolescent or red squirrels as this would pose a risk to the birds.
