Chalet Nest Box
Invite nature into your garden with this beautifully handcrafted wooden bird nest box, the 32mm Chalet box from Tom Chambers, designed to provide a safe and comfortable shelter for small wild birds. Made from quality FSC certified timber with a durable and attractive green sloping roof, this nest box blends naturally into outdoor spaces while offering long-lasting protection through every season.
The 32 mm entrance hole is carefully sized to attract popular species such as house sparrows, tree sparrows, great tits, nuthatches, and other small cavity-nesting birds, while helping to deter larger, more aggressive species.
The Chalet has an easy clean door to the reverse of the box to make cleaning an easier task (only clean when the nestbox is empty and free of nesting birds).
Thoughtfully crafted with bird safety in mind, the smooth entrance hole and sturdy structure provide a secure environment for nesting and raising young. The internal space offers ample room for comfort without being exposed to predators or harsh weather. The Chalet has been finished with a stunning contrasting sloping green roof. A simple, elegant way to help garden birds thrive year after year.
How to position & fit your nest box
Position the nest box so it is sheltered from strong wind, heavy rain, and direct sunlight. The front of the box should be angled slightly downwards to help prevent rain from entering. When installing, use galvanised or stainless steel screws or nails to avoid rusting, accessing the pre-drilled fixing hole through the side opening. If attaching the box to a tree, secure it using galvanised wire around the trunk or hang it from a sturdy branch, and check the fixings regularly. Ensure the box is placed out of reach of cats and squirrels, and install it high up on a wall—at least 3 metres above the ground—for added protection.
