Henry Bell Heritage Squirrel Defence Feeder

Stop pesky squirrels with this attracting Squirrel Proof feeder, finished in Heritage Bronze with a durable metal construction. This attractive feeder features spring-loaded ports that automatically close when a squirrel or large bird lands on them. In addition to the spring-loaded ports, the seed feeder has an easy-fill lid with a wide opening and sturdy metal squirrel proof clasps for closure.

The Heritage Squirrel Defence feeder comes with a solid metal handle for convenient hanging.  The included perspex baffle adds an extra obstacle for the Squirrels whilst also offering the birds protection from the elements.

The metal mesh tube means birds can easily access the seed inside.  This feeder is suitable for seed and seed mixes.

Hints & Tips

• Squirrels are persistent creatures and will endeavour to get from the feeder. Additional measures to deter squirrels are:

• Ensure that the feeder is positioned away from neaby trees, if on a feeding station we recommend a squirrel baffle..

• As an extra deterrent to the Squirrels getting onto a feeder a tree hook can be used as this will increase the distance between the feeder and the hanging point.

• Provide a Squirrel Feeder for the Squirrels as this may encourage them to feed from their own specific feeder and leave the wild bird feeder alone.

• Add a dash of strong chilli powder to the seed mix. Squirrels do not appreciate the taste of the chilli powder, but birds are not bothered by it.

A note on Squirrel Protection*

* Although this feeder is squirrel and large bird proof we cannot guarantee that the juvenile squirrels and  younger large birds which are far more agile and lighter than the adult species wont be able to activate the ports.  Juveniles and young are more of a problem during the Spring and Summer months.
