They are rich in protein and fat, and are much larger than mealworms. As well as being hardy and odour-free, they will keep for 3 or 4 weeks at a low humidity, room temperature.
Your waxworms will arrive in a lidded, breathable tub which allows you to tip out a few at a time - without having to touch them if you are squeamish! With a little care they will last for weeks (instructions accompany every order).
As waxworms have entered a stage in their life cycle where they no longer consume food, they are living off the fat supplies in their bodies which means you may see them growing smaller the longer you keep them. if you spot any black waxworms then they are dead waxworms and must be removed from the container.
Live foods are shipped separately to the rest of your order as they come directly from the supplier.
