National Trust Athena Seed Guardian Feeder
The National Trust Athena Seed Guardian Feeder consists of a feeder with two ports and a matching protective cage.
The feeder includes the convenient Click & Go system that allows you to clean the feeder in an instant, without the need to undo screws. The protective cage is also very easy to strip down and clean.
The metal feeder will ensure smaller birds feed in peace without being driven away by larger, more often aggressive species of birds and also restrict access to squirrels.
Twist the feeder cap anti-clockwise until it releases, then undo the screw that holds the base of the cage in position. Remove the base and the large metal plate that rests on top of it. This creates a large opening through which the feeder can be removed, base first. The feeder ports detach by pushing them upwards and then pulling them out of the tube.

*A Note On Squirrel Protection
The Nuttery feeders can only protect against adult grey squirrels and large adult birds. Some birds may not fit through the bars but could manage to get their head into the feeder. Adolescent young squirrels could squeeze into the feeder due to their flexiility. The young squirrels look very similar to adults. This is a temporary seasonal issue.
You may also find that adolescent jackdaws, crows and pigeons may find their way in The bars on these feeders cannot be made smaller to protect from adolescent or red squirrels as this would pose a risk to the birds.
A deterrant of chilli flakes mixed in with the nuts or seeds will deter the squirrels whilst being completely harmless to the birds.
