Here at Garden Wildlife Direct we are passionate about being environmentally conscious. We are all now becoming increasingly aware of the devastating effects plastics are having on wildlife and aquatic habitats. Our goal, with our suppliers support, is to actively work towards reducing plastic pollution.

You might have noticed that we are now dispatching certain products in eco-friendly paper bags or boxes rather than the traditional plastic bags or tubs. This is an ongoing process and we are continually looking to further reduce the use of plastic. Below highlights the products currently available plastic free!

We are on a mission, we all need to think seriously on removing plastic from our lives wherever and whenever possible.

About Our Sustainable Packaging

You might have noticed that not all of our products are available plastic free yet. That's because a lot goes into making sure that you receive the best quality sustainable packaging. For example we need to make sure that:

- The packaging is heavy duty enough not to rip
- Our packaging machines can handle the different packaging
- Our warehouse and storage is appropriate for the new packaging
- The packaging is fully sustainable (and not partly sustainable)

Due to no plastic being used in our recyclable packaging, natural oils from the seed mixes within can seep out, discolouring and producing a wet look on the surface of the packaging. We would suggest all seed mixes are transferred and stored in an air tight container to maintain freshness. We currently offer sustainable packaging for the below products in the specified weights. If you order one of these products, but a different weight than those specified, then you will receive packaging that may not be fully sustainable/recyclable.

Plastic Free Products

For some of the products listed on this page, we are phasing out plastic bags. To avoid wastage, we are shipping some in plastic bags to run the stock down, so if you receive a plastic bag when you order don't worry. As long as we've run out of plastic bags, then the next time you order you'll receive your order in sustainable packaging.
