Our brand-new Squirrel Guardian Fat Ball Feeder is the perfect solution for keeping your smaller birds safe and the squirrels away!

Designed to deter squirrels and larger birds, this Premium Squirrel Proof Suet Feeder is made from powder coated, chew proof metal and has been finished in an attractive matt black.

The metal cage will help to keep out predators, allowing smaller birds to feed in a safe environment -meaning this premium guardian fat ball feeder is sure to be a hit with your feathered friends!

These strong metal feeders have a removable cage and base for easy filling and cleaning, and wild birds can easily perch onto the feeder’s metal, wire tube for easy feeding.

This squirrel resistant feeder also features a clever sloped base which helps to channel food towards the feeding area - resulting in less suet going to waste as all the feed can be easily accessed.

Providing you with the perfect way to feed your feathered friends, this bird feeder can be filled with suet balls, and once filled you can easily hang this feeder from a tree, hook or feeding station using the strong steel hanger.

Dimensions - Height: 27.5 cm x Diameter: 18.5 cm.

Hygiene - Always ensure your bird feeding areas are cleaned on a regular basis to reduce the chance of germs and diseases spreading. Our full selection of bird hygiene products can be viewed here.

*A Note on Juvenile Squirrels

The feeders can only protect against adult grey squirrels and large adult birds such as magpies, crow’s rooks etc, which ultimately do the most damage.  Some birds, such as a woodpecker, will not fit through the bars but could manage to get their beaks inside and access the food.

There is always a chance than an adolescent young squirrel could squeeze into the bars and access the feeder.  The young squirrels look very similar to adults but are actually far fluffier making them much more flexible!  Squirrels are normally born in March, April, July and August so there may well be a risk around these months. This is short term issue and will be the problem of any feeder that has researched the necessary bar spacing required.  You may also find that adolescent jackdaws, crows and pigeons may find their way in.  The bars on these feeders cannot be made smaller to protect from adolescent or red squirrels as this would pose a risk to the birds.

If squirrels do manage to get into the feeders to prevent damage to the plastic tubes a dash of chilli flakes mixed in with the nuts or seeds will have no effect on the birds at all but will deter the squirrels.

Good quality and price but still lets the starlings reach the food . (beaks so long and sharp)

The feeding tube product is as described, but the Guardian cage which covers the feeding tube is constructed from a spiral wire which is too short at both ends. This means that at the top and bottom there is a larger gap, through which a young squirrel could easily enter. As soon as I saw this, I added some wire of my own to restrict the size of the gaps at top and bottom. The Guardian metal spiral could easily have been made longer to extend to the next vertical at each end.
