Better than my previous fat ball feeder because it is very solid one peice. It is easy to hang, but need to hang it high to keep away the rats. It is also easier to fill, just drop it in from the top. I usually put only one or two balls in at a time: more balls attract more larger birds that fight and like to break the balls apart so they drop to the ground and attract other critters. Larger birds have trouble hanging on while pecking on balls at the bottom (smaller birds are less aggressive). The previous feeder that I used had parts that snapped together which would come apart when the heavier birds and squirrels would hang on it. Their goal is to knock it down. This one has never fallen or come apart since it is one solid unit.
